Dr. Elissa Braunstein takes over as Interim Chair of the Economics Department

Please congratulate Professor Elissa Braunstein on being appointed the Interim Chair of the Department of Economics, effective July 1, 2018.

Dr. Braunstein is a Professor of Economics at Colorado State University, as well an Editor for the journal Feminist Economics. Most recently she worked for 2.5 years as a Senior Economist at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in the Division on Globalization and Development Strategies. Her work focuses on theinternational and macroeconomic aspects of growth and development, with particular emphasis on the interactions between macroeconomic policy and gender equality, as well as the consequences of incorporating care and social reproduction into macroeconomic models. She publishes widely in both academic and policy venues, and has done consulting work for a number of international development institutions, including UN Women, the International Labour Organization, the World Bank, and the United Nations Research Institute on Social Development. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Master’s of Pacific International Affairs from the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego.

We Are Hiring!

The Department of Economics at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a full-time, entry-level tenure-track Assistant Professor position in applied macroeconomics. The successful candidate shall teach graduate and undergraduate courses in macroeconomics, maintain a research agenda that complements the Department’s graduate fields, and contribute to the Department in service. An interest in obtaining external funding is encouraged. Ph.D. must be completed by the time the appointment begins on 16 August 2018. The successful candidate will be appointed untenured and at the rank of Assistant Professor. Tenure requires both scholarly accomplishment and excellence in teaching. Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but full consideration will be extended to those applications received by Monday, 20 November 2017. Once semifinalists have been identified, application materials, including letters of recommendation, will be made available for review by the entire faculty of the Department. For full consideration, reference letters must be uploaded by 27 November 2017.
