Associate Professor Guy Numa has been awarded the College of Liberal Arts’ Ann Gill Faculty Development Award for his book project, The Economics of W. E. B. Du Bois, under contract with the University of Chicago Press.

The book will provide a comprehensive assessment of Du Bois’s contributions to economics. It fills a notable gap in the literature by shedding new light on his lifelong engagement with economic questions. It also sharpens our understanding of his interdisciplinary contributions, challenging conventional disciplinary boundaries.
“I am thrilled by this book project, which has been the focus of my energies, and I am honored to be counted among the recipients of the Ann Gill Award. The award will help me take it across the finish line,” Numa stated.
Numa succeeds Professor and department chair Daniele Tavani, the most recent awardee in the Department of Economics, in 2011-2012. The Ann Gill Faculty Development Award is funded by generous donors to the College of Liberal Arts through the College’s Great Conversations program. This supports annual awards for outstanding research and creative activity by tenured and tenure-track faculty in the College.
