Welcome to Sammy Zahran, our newest member of the faculty! Professor Zahran is an Assistant Professor of Demography in the Department of Economics and Co-Director of the Center for Disaster and Risk Analysis (CDRA) at Colorado State University. He is also a Resident Fellow in the School of Global Environmental Sustainability at CSU.
Prior to joining the faculty at CSU, Dr. Zahran was a post-doctoral research scientist with the Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. He has published extensively in the areas of hazards, disasters and risk assessment. His most recent publications have appeared in Neurotoxicology, Ecological Economics and Risk Analysis. He was awarded the “Best Article of 2007” by the American Planning Association. Professor Zahran is a recipient of the prestigious 2010 Monfort Professor Award, only the second faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts to be so honored.
