The New York Times has recently published a rather disturbing article on the toxic environment for women in economics.

At CSU, we pride ourselves on being a department with a substantially higher-than-average ratio of women faculty, and to have prominent Faculty members pursuing research on gender and feminist issues. Professor Elissa Braunstein has recently been appointed Editor of the prestigious journal Feminist Economics, and research by Professors Alex Bernasek and Nancy Jianakoplos on women’s attitude toward risk is the seminal article in the field. We offer courses on Gender and the Economy at both the undergraduate and graduate level. We hosted the first Undergraduate Women in Economics Conference this past April.

We strive to create an environment that supports women students and faculty.
