Think Like an Economist

The economics minor allows students to broaden and complement their major by gaining a foundation in how individuals, markets, and institutions make decisions. This 21-credit program introduces key tools of economic analysis and their application to issues such as policy, inequality, and global markets. It pairs well with majors across the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and business, offering a valuable analytical perspective for a wide range of academic and career paths.

Upon completing the economics minor, students develop the ability to think like an economist when looking at everyday decisions and major global issues. You’ll learn how people and businesses make choices using concepts like supply and demand, costs and benefits, and market competition, while also exploring how governments use fiscal and monetary policy to influence the broader economy.

Along the way, you’ll build the tools to interpret economic news and better understand how economic forces shape the world around you—from prices and jobs to growth and inequality.
