I come from the small town of McMinnville, Oregon where I received my undergraduate education from Linfield College. I studied economics and mathematics at Linfield, and I also participated in intercollegiate athletics during my time there. Now I am studying economics with the students and faculty here at CSU! I like to study economics specifically, but I enjoy learning in general.
I strongly believe in the power of education to create positive outcomes, not only for the individual student, but for the local, national, and global community. That is why I am pursuing an advanced degree, so that I can help in creating positive outcomes for individuals and the community. The current social, political, and environmental climate provide me with even greater motivation. It seems the world, now more than ever, is in desperate need of compassionate critical thinkers. His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed this idea perfectly in a recent tweet. He said, "The time has come for us to consider seriously how to change our way of life not through prayer or religious teaching, but through education."
I look forward to meeting many new people, both within the department of economics and the faculty and students who are not a part. Good luck and happy learning!
